LEDlock How-To

Preliminary-
Always Disconnect battery before doing electrical work on your truck.

NEVER hook the LED harness directly to a 12Volt source. It must run through the brain!

The wiring colors in the instructions always have the stripe listed second. Green/Light Blue means the wire is predominately green and the stripe is light blue. There are situations where you will have a "Green/Light Blue" and a Light Blue/Green" in the same harness.

We supply a scotchlock tap for all the connectors. The preferred method is to cut the insulation from the wire and solder it.

Work one harness at a time from the brain to the fuse box so you don't get confused.

The following tools were used to remove all panels in the truck: sockets (6mm,7mm,8mm), phillips screwdriver, and flat head screwdriver.

For acces to the Brain mount, remove glove box. Open the door, squeeze the tabs to open as shown. Remove 2 screws from hinge and set aside:

Mount the brain as pictured. This is in the glove box opening to the left. Practice the placement before peeling the tape for permanent mounting:

For acces to the wiring, remove the following:

Remove 2 screws from radio bezel:

Remove bezel. Radio will slide out with the bezel. Pull bezel out enough to gain access and remove all wiring connectors from bezel. When all connectors have been disconnected, remove bezel and set aside:

Remove screws to plastic panel under steering wheel:

Finally, remove the four bolts holding the guage cluster. You can just pull it back to gaon acces to the wiring connector in the back. One wire will need to be tapped into the wiring harness.

To avoid confusion, run each wiring harness seperatley and mount the wiring before moving to the next harness.

Plug in the 4 wire harness to the connector on the brain. Run wiring as specified in directions that came with the kit. Be careful on the wiring. In the fusebox area, there are 2 32 pin connectors. One is gray and one is black. They both look the same until close inspection. As noted earlier, the instructions give the wire color in primary color/stripe. There are some duplications. Green/Dark Blue means the wire is predominately green with a dark blue stripe. The following picture shows a tap being used to secure the wire:

After completing the 4 pin connector, attach the 3 pin connector to the brain and run the wire and tap them into the correct wire as given in the instructions.

After completion of the 3 pin connector, start the removal of the door panels for the LED installation. Remove the two screws and remove the handle portion of the door panel. It pops out after removing the two screws:

Remove the screw pictured as well as one other that was exposed when the handle portion was removed:

With the screws removed, lift and pull the door panel away from door. The handle portion can lay there while the main door panel is removed and set aside:

Pull about half of the sound deadening away and remove speaker. Pull the stock lock rod down through the hole. Twist it to break the plastic connector holding it to the lock mechanism. It can be discarded:

We pulled the wiring boot from the door and jamb. This makes smaller, easier to mage routes, to feed the wire:

In this example, a heavy white wire was fed from the drivers side interior, out through the jamb. The LED harness was then taped to this wire and pulled through. The same steps were made to feed the LED harness through the boot. You can work from door lock to brain, or from brain to door lock. Just make sure LED is protected when running the wire. SET THE SMALL BLACK LED BEZEL ASIDE UNTIL LATER. DO NOT LOSE IT:

The blue tape shows the path the wire was run. It followed the wiring already installed in the door:

Continue following the blue tape to see the route. It goes behind the metal panel and up through the hole where the door lock was. Note the blue tape going into to holes toward the top. The wire is behind the panel and the tape is keeping it flush to the panel. Leave enough wire so that the connector sticks out past the hole:

Repeat the steps for the other door. With all wiring connected, including the yellow wire to the guage cluster, you can now test the system. Reinstall the necessary parts back on the truck and reconnect the battery. With the truck off and the truck locked, both LEDs should flash with the theft light. Turn the ignition on, but do not start the truck. The LEDs should glow solid.

If everything works, reinstall everything in reverse order of removal. After the door panels are reinstalled, slip the LED bezel over the LED. Tuck the extra wiring into the hole in the door pane. The bezel will lock itself into place.
